This is a cultural self portrait that I made for myself sophomore year of college for GEM205. What I like about looking back at this is that a lot of my core identity is still the same, I am a student and I really like to row. I am still an older sister, my ethic background is very important to me, and I am super proud of being from Boston. I formatted this assignment like I do my resume because like my resume, it gives a lot of my basic facts on paper. Someone who may have never met me would be able to gather a good idea of who I am on paper, but may miss a lot of the personality qualities that round me off as a person.
During my video assignment this year, these same points about me were all mentioned. However, like my resume, I have grown a lot over the past few years. The biggest change that I see is that under the “Places I have lived” section, I say here that I have visited a lot of other countries but never for more than a few days at a time. That was definitely true my sophomore year, but since then, I have stayed for months in China, Spain, The UK, and Indonesia, which are all experiences that have definitely shaped the person that I have grown to be at Wesleyan.
